  • Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick Lions Club Supports Marshwood High School Senior's Efforts In Peru

The Dover, Rollinsford, and South Berwick Lions Club is proud to award a $500 grant to Nellie Young, a senior at Marshwood High School, in support of her work in Peru through the program Empowering Peru Through Culinary Education.

Nellie is raising funds to provide essential tools and resources that will enable children in Peru to attend culinary school and strengthen their education, helping to create pathways out of poverty.

Through this initiative, Nellie is assisting in meeting the needs of a culinary school in Santa Rosa, District of Pachacamac, Peru. The school was officially recognized by the Peruvian government in February 2025 and currently serves 20 students with the guidance of two teachers. Food prepared by the students is sold to help sustain the school, while also supporting local families experiencing food insecurity and improving nutrition and reducing anemia within the community.

The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick is a member of the Lions Club International, which began in 1917.  Their motto is “We Serve.”  The club gathers on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at Cara Irish Pub in Dover.
