What’s a huswif? In early America, a huswif, or housewife, was a small foldable sewing kit which held needles, pins, thread, buttons, and other sewing tools. A huswif was an essential lady’s accessory, but soldiers of the Revolution and Civil War also often carried a huswif to make repairs to their clothing. The Friends of the Dover Public Library are having a music CD sale February 5th – February 11th on the main floor near the adult circulation desk. The Library is discontinuing its music collection and the entire collection will be available for $2 per CD for singles and boxed sets will be specially marked. Genres include rock, country, classical, world, pop, jazz, folk & bluegrass, musical soundtracks, and children’s music. The CDs for sale will be available all hours the Library is open. Friday, January 13, 2023Wentworth-Douglass awards $10K grant for ‘Art & Wellness in Recovery’
DOVER – Wentworth-Douglass Hospital has awarded a $10,000 grant to Dover’s Triangle Club to support a new art and wellness program for those in recovery or struggling with substance use disorder. At their December meeting, the Dover Adult Learning Center Board of Directors took a cash collection of $300 and selected two local non-profits to donate to. $200 was donated to the Triangle Club of Dover and $100 (a single donation from Rollie Janetos) went to the Dover Children’s Home.
