  • Awake Overnight - Youth Support Specialist

    Dover Children’s Home is seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Youth Support Specialist )(Awake Overnight) to join our team. Youth Support Specialists will work with youth ages 10-21, their families and support networks, and community partners to provide supportive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based services to support youth in their healing. The Youth Support Specialist position is responsible for the oversight of all residential and daily-living tasks of the youth and young adults served. This position requires working directly with and providing direct supervision of youth and young adults receiving services. This position is under the direction of an Awake Overnight Residential Coordinator and the Management Team.

    SUPERVISION

    • Prepare for and attend weekly supervision with Residential Coordinator.

    TREATMENT SERVICES

    • Treat young adults, families, colleagues, stakeholders, and community members with respect, empathy, and dignity at all times.
    • Uphold the principles of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) in all interactions with young adults, ensuring fidelity to the model of care.
    • Provide trauma-informed care to youth through role-modeling positive adult conversations, self-regulation and conflict resolution; teaching and upholding program routines and expectations; and utilizing de-escalation and crisis support for youth in line with models of care.
    • Ensure resident safety by monitoring and meeting basic needs, conducting room and electronics searches, urine screens, and activities of daily living within the program.
    • Complete thorough documentation to include case notes, daily charts, and incident reports within the identified timeframes.
    • Assist residents in learning and upholding program rules and expectations.
    • Assist and supervise youth in completing daily routines and personal responsibilities.
    • Identify, plan, lead and participate in activities for youth that align with program expectations and youths’ identified treatment areas.
    • Create photo albums for all youth beginning at intake. Take and maintain photos to be gifted to youth at discharge.
    • In collaboration with the coordination team, plan birthday and special occasion celebrations for youth.
    • Safely administer medication as outlined by DCH’s policies and procedures.
    • Uphold the daily schedule of the program, and follow shift plans as assigned by Residential Coordinator or other designee.
    • Provide safe transportation for youth as outlined in DCH’s policies and procedures.
    • Document incidents with factual, objective, trauma-informed language in incident reports.

    OPERATIONAL

    • Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders (family members, case workers, therapists, etc.) as necessary and assigned.
    • Maintain responsibility for the physical safety and cleanliness of the program, including personal offices/office spaces and shared spaces in the programs.
    • Promptly report any household safety concerns to the Facilities Coordinator.
    • Support monthly evacuation drills.

    ADMINISTRATIVE

    • Follow organizational protocols for accepting and documenting donations, ensuring proper communication with relevant team members.
    • Represent the organization with professionalism and gratitude toward donors, emphasizing the importance of their contributions.

    FINANCIAL

    • Make fiscally responsible decisions that align with organizational policies, ensuring proper oversight and minimizing financial burdens on the organization.
    • Adhere to all financial policies and procedures to maintain accountability and transparency.
    • Ensure timesheets are up-to-date, accurate, and overtime is approved by the appropriate manager and director prior to being worked.
