  • SNHUG Invites the Community to Celebrate Ukesgiving: An Afternoon of Music, Gratitude and Giving

This November, the Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group (SNHUG) invites the community to celebrate the spirit of gratitude and generosity at Ukesgiving: A Celebration of Music, Gratitude & Giving, on Friday, November 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Roundabout Diner & Lounge, 580 US Highway 1 Bypass, Portsmouth, NH.
More than a musical gathering, Ukesgiving is an opportunity to celebrate a year of friendship, community involvement, and making a difference—one song at a time. The informal, family-friendly event is free and open to the public. Ukulele players, music lovers, friends, and curious newcomers are all welcome.
The afternoon will feature familiar gratitude-themed songs projected on screen, inviting everyone to sing and play along. A highlight of the event will be “Buy a Chord,” a unique fundraising opportunity that gives anyone who donates any amount to the Ukulele Kids Club (UKC) the chance to take the microphone and perform an open-mic song of their choice. Participants can sign up in advance at https://theukc.harnessgiving.org/campaigns/21707. Donors contributing $20 or more will receive a UKC canvas tote bag.
The “Buy a Chord” performances will run from approximately 4:15 to 6 p.m., followed by a short break and a community jam session from 6:15 to 7 p.m. Raffles will offer additional opportunities to support the cause, with ticket sales closing at 6 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for cash purchase.
    Music with a Mission
SNHUG’s motto reflects the heart of the event: play a little, give a little, change a life. The all-volunteer group combines its love of the ukulele with a commitment to giving back, supporting the Ukulele Kids Club, a nonprofit organization that provides instruments to hospitalized children for use in music therapy programs.
“Ukesgiving is our way of saying thank you to the people who make this community so special,” says SNHUG organizers. “Music brings people together, but when we combine that music with generosity and a shared purpose, we can make a real difference. You don’t have to be an experienced musician to participate. Just bring your enthusiasm, your friends, and a willingness to join in.”
Whether picking up a ukulele or any instrument for the first time, singing along from the audience, performing an open-mic favorite, or simply enjoying the company of others, everyone has a place at Ukesgiving.
The event celebrates a simple but powerful idea: communities can accomplish extraordinary things when people come together to have fun and help others.
