August 06, 2026Lydia’s Run for Hope 5K Returns September 19
Fourth Annual Walk/Run To Benefit Lydia’s House of Hope
Somersworth, NH – Lydia’s House of Hope is holding its fourth annual Lydia’s Run 5K on Saturday, September 19th at 9am in Somersworth, NH. Open to adults, children and pet friendly!
The event honors the life and legacy of Lydia Valdez. Following the unimaginable loss of their daughter, the Valdez family chose to transform their grief into hope for others by making the transformational gift that helped establish Lydia's House of Hope. Today, every woman and child who walks through its doors is part of Lydia's lasting legacy—a legacy of compassion, healing, restoration, and love.
Race check-in occurs from 8:00 AM–9:00 AM in the St. Martin's Church parking lot (120 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH). Registration is $35 Early Bird, or $40 after August 15th. Participants get a goodie bag and snacks, with medals/ribbons for top finishers. Families can also enjoy music, raffles, face painting, and more!
Sponsors of this event include Spence & Matthews Insurance, Heritage Home Service, RELYCO, Awards Plus, Hang10 Carwash. Chick fil A, Loco Cocos and Sprague Flooring. The Somersworth Police Department will provide detail for the safety of all runners and walkers, and the Somersworth Fire Department will display the US flag for the pre-race pledge of allegiance.
Founder and Executive Director Theresa Tozier believes the event represents far more than a finish line. "Every step taken during Lydia's Run represents hope," said Tozier. "It reminds every woman who walks through our doors that her past does not define her future. This community has faithfully stood beside us for years, and because of that support, women and children continue to discover healing, purpose, and a new beginning. Some people run for a personal best. Others run so another family has the opportunity for a new beginning."
Volunteer opportunities, including helping with registration, route directions, handing out water, and more, are still available. Those interested in volunteering can do so using the link here: https://runsignup.com/Race/Volunteer/NH/Somersworth/LydiasRun
