  • 2020/2021 Academic Year Student Scholarship - Application Form

    Through the volunteer efforts of local businesses and professionals, the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce strives to advance the economic well being of our members and the community. By awarding this scholarship, the Chamber is giving back to the community by supporting postsecondary education.

    The Scholarship program is coordinated by the Chamber’s Business & Education Partnership, which has a mission to provide a bridge between the greater Dover business community and local schools and learning centers to promote an educated, skilled workforce.

    The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce will award a one-time $1,000 scholarship to a student accepted to a postsecondary education institution. This includes individuals who are returning to school for a degree as well as those just entering. A student is eligible to apply if he/she/they meet at least one of the following requirements:

    • Graduating from a Dover public/charter/private school, a Chamber member school, or is homeschooled
    • Works for a Chamber member organization
    • Has a family member who works for a Chamber member organization.

    This one-time scholarship will be awarded based upon a student’s service to community (local, regional, or global). Candidates must demonstrate in this application a strong commitment to community service. The applicant must be planning/continuing to attend a college, university or technical school in the 2021/2022 school year. The scholarship will be made payable to and sent directly to the student, upon proof of enrollment.

    Write a 350 to 750 word essay describing how the Coronavirus pandemic has impacted your learning experience (positively or negatively) and, since this scholarship is based on community service, how you have been able to participate in supporting your community (school, local, regional, or global) over the past year.
    Attach a letter of acceptance from a college, university or technical school or proof of attendance at such an institution.
    Provide at least one letter of recommendation that documents the applicant’s community service. Second letter is optional.
