Stories of Progress & Hope is a community story telling event featuring 2 story tellers from the Granite State, Quinn Golden and Sebastian Lockwood. The stories they tell center around progressive values and are intended to inspire hope. The even will also feature local folk musician Chris George playing original songs to entertain the audience
Learning along the way that weaving stories and fables into speaking engagements bridged the gap between the audience just hearing the presentation, or becoming immersed in it, gradually the stories became more important than the topics. Now, bringing Fables, Folk-tails, and Stories with Sagacity is Quinn's passion, for telling leaves his audiences feeling special and filled with wonder.
A lifelong resident of New Hampshire, Quinn lives in Alton NH with Vivian, his bride of thirty-five years, and Bushman the Dog and a flock of Chickens.
Storyteller and teacher Sebastian Lockwood tells the great epics: Gilgamesh, Odysseus, Caesar, Beowulf and Monkey. His studies in Classics and Anthropology at Boston University and Cambridge University in the UK laid the foundation for bringing these great tales into performance.
Sebastian's performances are designed to take complex texts and make them accessible and exciting for audiences from 5 to 95. He lives under Crotched Mountain with his wife, jazz singer and storyteller, Nanette Perrotte.
Drawn to music from childhood, Chris George was involved in music groups in his early years of teaching high school in New Hampshire. The past twelve years have included a full immersion into his musical passion. He lives in Portsmouth, NH and is a member of the New England gospel choir “Rock My Soul.” He also plays guitar and sings in a variety of organized and less organized gatherings of musicians. His first CD of original music was released in 2015, titled “Down From the Mountains.” His most recent CD release, "Dreams of Freedom" came in November of 2018.Images
