Saints Taking Action DayDescription
One of the key aspects of the St. Thomas Aquinas High School mission is to instill in our students a heart for service. Our students are encouraged to be active members of their local communities and to make a difference by sharing their talents.
On October 23, we plan to help non-profit organizations in our community! Our students, faculty and staff, along with over 75 volunteers and 8th graders from the Seacoast Catholic elementary schools will join us in our effort to help neighbors in our community! We will paint, landscape, clean, visit the shut in, clean the beach... learning that people working together as a community can make a difference. Our students are able to do many different things and our goal is to help organizations in our community with meaningful work; here are just a few suggestions:
- Spend Time with the Elderly/Shut In: play bingo or cards, read a book, do crafts, organize a sing-a-long
- Organize: perhaps a room or closet...a project you’ve been meaning to get to but don’t have the time
- Bake/Cook: for shelters or food pantries
- Office Projects: help with mailings, stuffing envelopes, labeling, sorting, filing, shredding
- Assist a Teacher or Project Coordinator: read to students, assist in the classroom, coordinate a project
- Paint, scrape or stain (nothing on tall ladders)
- Landscape/Yard Clean Up: rake, weed, spread mulch, light trimming
- Winterize: remove AC units, remove/wash screens, wash windows
- General Cleaning: vacuum, sweep, wash (walls, floors pews, playground equipment, etc.)
