University of New Hampshire Provost Wayne E. Jones Jr. will speak on UNH partnerships that are supporting New Hampshire’s economy and quality of life at an event hosted March 16 by the Active Retirement Association. Learn the latest initiatives at the Durham Evangelical Church, lower level, 114 Dover Road (Route 108), Durham, NH. Doors open at 1:30 PM, with Dr. Jones to speak at 2:15. There is a short General Meeting and time to socialize before the speaker. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The provost will appear instead of UNH President James W. Dean Jr., who had to defer to Dr. Jones due to a scheduling conflict. Dr. Jones also serves as vice president for academic affairs and professor of chemistry and materials at the university. He moved to UNH in 2017 to become dean of engineering and physical sciences. Prior to joining UNH, Dr. Jones was professor and chair in the chemistry department at Binghamton University, State University of New York, where he served in numerous leadership roles including founding director of the Center for Learning and Teaching and interim dean of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences. The Active Retirement Association is an organization for people 50 and over, retired or not. Originally sparked by and affiliated with the University of New Hampshire, it lists more than 380 members from Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
