“LIGHTHOUSES OF SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIR...Description
If you, like most of us, feel drawn to the historic, picturesque lighthouses of coastal New England, here’s your opportunity to learn more. The Seacoast Memorial Lecture Series is proud to present historian and photographer Jeremy D’Entremont, discussing “Lighthouses of Southern New Hampshire and Maine.” This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome. Please join us on Thursday, April 25, 2019, 1:30 p.m., at the Durham Evangelical Church (lower level), 114 Dover Road (Route 108), Durham, NH, to learn more about these lighthouses and their vital role in New England’s history and culture and our nation’s early maritime economy. Jeremy D’Entremont has been called the leading expert on New England’s historic lighthouses. He is the historian for the American Lighthouse Foundation and the founder of Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses, and the author or co-author of more than 20 books, including The Lighthouse Handbook: New England, The Lighthouses of Maine, All About Nubble Light, Great Shipwrecks of the Maine Coast, and Ocean-Born Mary: The Truth behind a New Hampshire Legend. He has appeared on the History Channel, the Travel Channel, Public Television, and National Public Radio, speaking about lighthouses and other subjects. His presentations combine historic and new photographs, film clips, and audio clips. The Seacoast Memorial Lecture Series is a public service presentation of the Active Retirement Association (ARA). The ARA is supported by annual dues from its approximately 350 members representing 32 towns and cities in southern Maine and New Hampshire.
