Admission to the Woodman Museum, a historical attraction in its 102nd season, is free to Dover residents on May 12, 2018 for Dover Day. The Woodman Museum is proud to offer free admission to residents for the day and will be showcasing all the new exhibits and changes Woodman and Hale Houses. A massive effort has been made to reinterpret the museum’s vast collection, undertaken by volunteers, staff, and interns from the University of New Hampshire Museum Studies program. Off-season projects include the natural history gallery renovation, a reinterpretation of the Native American artifacts collection, and the roll-out of the scouting exhibit. The Foster Gallery is home this year to “A Peek at the Past,” which seeks to explore the technologies that have been largely replaced by the smart phone of the 21st century. Additionally, the entire first floor collection of the Hale House has been rearranged. Almost every collection in the museum has been reimagined, providing a fresh look at over 100 years of collected history. Visitors will also notice that improvements are in progress for handicap accessibility during the 2018 season. Ramps are to be installed to provide first floor access to both the Woodman and Hale Houses and a handicap-accessible bathroom has been installed in the Woodman House.
