DOVER 400 PRESENTS “MEET THE AUTHORS...Description
Dover400, the committee organizing Dover’s 400th anniversary celebrations, is pleased to announce a “Meet the Authors” event on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Dover Public Library, 73 Locust St., from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lecture hall.The authors of three new historical publications about Dover will be on hand to discuss their research and their writing process. Audience questions about Dover’s history are welcome, and signed copies of each book will be available for purchase. The books are:- Dover Heritage Walks: A Compendium of Past Walks and Reveals, by Andy Galt, Cathy Beaudoin, and Tom Massingham. Derived from 29 past Heritage Walk brochures, over 250 homes, buildings and historic sites are described and photographed.
- Quaking Dover: How a counterculture took root and flourished in colonial New Hampshire, by Jnana Hodson. The early history of the Quakers in Dover, including their persecution for challenging Puritanism.
- Dover NH Stories from the Past, by Tony McManus. A collection of Tony’s “Historically Speaking” newspaper columns which appeared in Foster’s Daily Democrat.
