Professional and greenhorn artists alike can be slowed down by an overly loud inner critic. Quiet that voice and experience the joy of creation and imagination. Practice art-making in a judgment free zone, and connect - or reconnect - with the urge to put marks on paper. Students will participate in a variety of activities designed to reconnect them to the impulse to create. The focus will move between process- and product-oriented activities. Challenges will include mini-lessons in expressionist and realistic drawing techniques. Students will then reflect in writing on the different approaches to art making, looking to identify both what excites them and what inhibits their expressive tendencies.
