STEM Saturday: Build an Electromagnet
Join us on Saturday January 25, 2020 at 2pm in the Lecture Hall to build an electromagnet!
What is an electromagnet and how do they work? An electromagnet is a temporary magnet. It is only magnetic when there is electricity. The electricity from the battery flows from the battery through the copper wire and to the nail. It temporarily arranges the molecules in the nail, making the nail magnetic.
How many paperclips can your magnet pick up? How can you make it stronger? Can’t wait to find out. Kid in grades K and up invited. No registration required. All materials provided.
