Portsmouth Christian Academy (PCA) is pleased to announce the relaunch of its Variable Tuition program for the 2019-2020 academic year. Initially piloted last year, PCA’s Variable Tuition program is a need-based tuition assistance program that allows families to apply for reduced tuition for children entering grades K-12.

Last year, PCA’s Variable Tuition program helped 186 children from New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts who otherwise would not be able to attend private school.

Dr. John Engstrom, PCA’s Head of School, reflects: “Last year, we offered over $1 million in reduced tuition to families in the Seacoast region. Over and over, families remarked that they knew their children needed the kind of small-class, learning differentiation that PCA is known for, but thought they could never afford it. The Variable Tuition program allows families to make the best academic choice for their children while awarding a reduced tuition that is right for their unique financial situations.”

One local family, who was the recipient of a reduced Variable Tuition during the program’s pilot last year, explains: “As a family, we put the unnecessary things to the side, and without PCA’s Variable Tuition program that you provide to families like ours, we would never be able to continue this amazing journey for our children.”

Another family notes: “My husband and I were raised in Rwanda, and when we came to the United States, it was hard finding a community that would help us raise our son under the same values we hold dear. PCA became our answer from heaven and we are thrilled and blessed to be able to afford this great school for him.”

Elaina Russo, director of admissions at PCA, states: “When we piloted Variable Tuition last year, we had no idea the impact and reach it might have among families in our area. The average Variable Tuition rate offered last year was $6,100 [compared to the school’s $12,000 for Lower School and $15,000 for Upper School]. We’re thrilled to be helping so many families realize that PCA is a financially viable option for their children’s education.”

Variable Tuition applications and applications for admission to PCA for the 2019-2020 school year are currently open. More information can be found at www.pcaschool.org/vt.
