MANCHESTER, NH – The People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, announced today that it has awarded $6,000 to The Front Door Agency in Nashua.
The Front Door Agency assists individuals and families who are transitioning from crisis to self-sufficiency to achieve stability, have the opportunity to transform and ultimately flourish.  In addition to its Transformational Housing Program for single mothers, its program include Financial Literacy, a Holiday Santa Program and a Housing Stability Program offering assistance with rent, utilities, security deposit loans and permanent affordable housing.  People’s United Community Foundation has awarded a total of $36,500 to the organization since 2012.
Funding from the People’s United Community Foundation will provide direct support for case management, transportation, educational expenses or furnishing and maintenance of shared living spaces at the Front Door Agency’s Phase One Norwell Home.  “Our services are targeted to motivated young women who need a hand-up to get out of a crisis situation,” says Front Door Agency CEO Maryse Wirbal. She adds, “There are many reasons why a young mother can suddenly find herself in crisis and be overwhelmed. Some single mothers lack family support and others are victims of domestic violence, for example. Our program assists those who are willing to accept case management and take advantage of all the tools and resources available.”
Dianne Mercier, Officer, People’s United Community Foundation, and President, People’s United Bank, New Hampshire, said, “We are pleased to continue our partnership with The Front Door Agency, which provides critical services to individuals and families and ultimately helps recipients achieve long-term success.”
