The National Youth Involvement Board (NYIB) held its 44th Annual Conference in July, where Holy Rosary Credit Union’s (HRCU) Financial Education team was awarded 3rd place for total educational presentations given for the 2018-2019 school year within the $150-499 million asset size category. The NYIB is a network of credit unions that focus on financial literacy outreach for all ages within their communities. Credit unions report to NYIB their youth outreach, such as number of students reached and presentations given within the past school year.
“We are honored to receive this recognition and have the support and dedication from HRCU management for this important initiative!”, states Leah Taylor, HRCU’s Director of Financial Education, “Teaching students important financial lessons is a rewarding job.”
The national conference provides credit unions with sessions on financial education topics such as student branches, work based programs, technology trends, youth engagement, community outreach and financial education resources for all ages. Speakers included representatives from the NCUA, CFPB, NEFE, America Saves, Jump$tart, Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center, along with credit union professionals and exhibitors sharing their expertise and best practices.
At the annual conference, Taylor, was re-elected for her 4th term to serve on the NYIB’s Executive Committee as Vice Chair and North East Regional Coordinator. Presenting a donation on behalf of the Cooperative Credit Union association to the NYIB was Angela Lattime, HRCU’s Financial Education Instructor and New Hampshire delegate.
