    A Window to the Universe
    Astrophotography and astro-art competition and exhibition featuring images of celestial objects… all forms of astrophotography from star trails to high-resolution planetary images as well as other media forms with an astronomical focus. We are looking for your best astrophotography and astro-artwork that you feel shares the wonders of the universe with others.

    Juried by Astronomer and University of New Hampshire Observatory Director, John S. Gianforte, an astrophotographer himself for over 50 years, has shared his astrophotography with people from all over the world. John, who works with students, amateur astronomers and anyone interested in capturing the sky to share with others.

    Images of the Past
    From the Thom Hindle Collection
    The Thom Hindle Collection is a fifty year collection of original glass plate negatives taken by early twentieth century New England photographers using large wooden plate cameras mounted on tripods. The exhibit will feature many images that have never been on exhibit and cover topics related to “TRANSPORTATION”…steam trains, street cars, vintage bicycles-motorcycles, automobiles, an old Jenny airplane at Hampton Beach, original 1950s Hampton Toll Booths, and single bay gas stations; “ON THE BEACH”…with early swimming costumes, Rye Life Saving Crew...Short Sands at York 1910..Old Orchard Beach…original Farragut Hotel at Rye…Nubble Light with Bell Tower and 1930s Ogunquit Beach; “CAMPING-FISHING”…with old fashioned camps…fisherman and hunters; “PORTRAITS”…both in studio using sky-light windows and outdoor family groups to include the family horse…children...a WWI soldier and 1910 nurse; “TRAVEL”...the original Plymouth Rock Monument..Appledore House at Isles of Shoals…1939 World’s Fair… Washington D C 1920s...steamer Mt Washington at Alton 1905...Fish Shanties at Ogunquit…Clam Shacks at Joppa Flats-Newburyport, Ma… Cold Spring Park Fair Gate at Rochester…Paul Revere Home in Boston… plus vintage images of Dover, Rochester and Portsmouth…. photographs on exhibit are reproduced from the original negatives representing the works of both local and Boston area photographers.
