Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics hands out Student Athlete Scholarship
Nicholas Frattali, a graduate of Exeter Area High School Class of 2020, is the winner of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics 2020 ‘Access to Education’ Student Athlete Scholarship. Mr. Frattali was chosen from sixteen applicants and will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
“We were immediately impressed with the application Nicholas submitted for the Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics Student Athlete Scholarship. It demonstrated character, determination, and inspiration; ‘I’ve learned that to achieve a goal, I must be determined and willing to put forth the work, wait for the results and not get impatient…An athlete is someone who doesn’t even think about quitting during difficult times. Perseverance is key to being an athlete.’ His sense of identity and willpower made him the best candidate of the applicants to receive this year’s scholarship. On behalf of the entire Access Sports Medicine & Orthopedics team we want to congratulate Nicholas and wish him the best as he matriculates at UMass Amherst. We are certain he will make us all proud”

While at Exeter High School, Mr. Frattali was an integral member of the National Honor Society. He volunteered for numerous service projects including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Ending 68 hours of Hunger, and Annual Blood Drives for the American Red Cross.
In his sophomore year of basketball knee surgery benched him for the last half of the season. Never in his basketball career had he sat out for more than a day or two. Throughout the months of rehab Nicholas persevered and learned that by “focusing on my teammates playing rather than myself, I improved my character and the appreciation for the people around me.”
Nicholas will be attending UMASS-Amherst in the fall.
