The 25th annual Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Charity Classic, presented by Tufts Health Freedom Plan, raised more than $182,000. The sold-out golf tournament, held at the Cochecho Country Club in Dover on June 24, supports comprehensive services for women and families at the Wentworth-Douglass Women & Children’s Center.

For the second year in a row, the winning foursome was made up of Michael Curran, Jon Luchette, Jeff Pollock and Keith St. Cyr. The second-place team was Joseph Alvarez, Leo Coyle, Leo Coyle, Jr., and Lori Rand. The third-place team was Dr. Paul Cass, Thomas Ferguson, Edward Hennington, and Brian McNulty.

Since the tournament’s inception in 1994, the Wentworth-Douglass Charity Classic has raised more than $2 million to support valuable pediatric programs and services. This year’s fundraising total included $14,000 raised during the tournament’s dinner to purchase a neonatal transport isolette for the Women & Children’s Center. Generous donors were moved to give after hearing from a grateful family and their care team about their birth experience. The transporter will help enhance the safety and quality of the care for babies who need an extra level of care after birth, while also allowing them to stay close to their mothers and families.

“Raising funds to help the youngest patients in our community has been at the heart of Wentworth-Douglass’s golf tournament from the beginning,” says Dr. Paul Cass, Wentworth-
Douglass’s Chief Medical Officer and member of the Golf Committee. “When I reflect back on all the years, all the golfers and sponsors who have come together to support our community, and all the lives we’ve been able to touch, I am truly moved.”
“As a strong supporter of the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Charity Classic, we know we are helping the hospital make a difference in the lives of the families and communities it serves,” says Geraldine Vaughn, President of Tufts Health Freedom Plan. “Sponsoring this event allows a continued partnership with Wentworth-Douglass, and we are pleased to be part of the important work being done by this progressive hospital and leadership.”
