Local Adoption Agency Forms Adoption Partnership with Ghana
Informational meeting to be held Sept 15
Dover, NH – Adoptive parents Tim and Alisa Karwowski learned a lot about the complexities of international adoption when they brought their then infant sons Jack, now 15, and Charlie, now15, home from Russia. So much that they wanted to share their experiences with others. The couple now operate New Hope for Children, the Dover-based non-profit, COA Hague accredited agency through which they adopted their boys.
“We were so grateful to have been able to build our family through adoption and had so much knowledge from our experiences that we wanted to assist others,” explained Alisa.
Alisa was appointed as Executive Director of New Hope for Children in June, 2013, after having served as the President of the Board of Directors and as the Russian Representative for the agency for six years. Tim worked with the agency for years in a volunteer capacity but left his job in 2015 to focus on running the agency. To date New Hope has placed over 1000 children with adoptive families here in the United States over the last 25 years.
Alisa and Tim Karwowski recently returned Ghana where they worked with the country’s Director of Social Welfare creating a partnership of in-country professionals to help prospective adoptive parents here in the United States.
New Hope for Adoption is hosting an informational meeting on Friday, September 15, 2017, at 5 p.m. at their Dover office. At the meeting, Tim, Alisa and their Ghanaian partners will facilitate this event where participants will learn about the international adoption process in Ghana, to include all US requirements to complete an inter-country adoption. Attendees are encouraged to bring their questions.
Spending time with the children inside the orphanage was a highlight of the Karwowski’s trip. The children available are male and female generally six months to eight years of age. There are twelve orphanages in the eastern region of Ghana.
