“A CLIMATE CHANGE SOLUTION CONSERVATI...Description
The Active Retirement Association (ARA) offers programs reflecting the many interests of people 50+ years old, retired or not. Please join us to meet new friends, sample delicious refreshments, and learn more about the ARA and its upcoming activities at our March General Meeting on Monday, March 20, 2017, 1:30 pm, Durham Evangelical Church (lower level), 114 Dover Road (Route 108), Durham, NH. The program will feature Michael Fleming discussing “A Climate Change Solution Conservatives Can Love.” Many people are concerned about the potentially catastrophic consequences of global climate change but don’t know how we can respond, given our divided politics. Is there an effective, politically feasible, market-based approach -- compatible with both conservative and liberal values – on which we all can agree? Michael Fleming, who serves as group leader for the Seacoast New Hampshire chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Green Sanctuary Chair for the Durham Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, and a founding member of the Seacoast Interfaith Stewards of the Earth, will address this question, and more, in his presentation. Mr. Fleming has been concerned with environmental issues since before the first Earth Day in 1970. He earned master’s degrees in Preventive Medicine and Geography from The Ohio State University. In 2015, he retired from managing a national health care quality data team for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, after previously working in the Maine and Ohio Departments of Health and Mental Health. He resides in Lee, New Hampshire. Currently the ARA has over 300 members from 35 communities in southern Maine and New Hampshire, who support the organization by annual dues. We offer lectures, discussion groups, films, cultural tours, walks/hikes, classes, special-interest groups, and much more!
