SUMMARY:Knit Democracy Together
DESCRIPTION:In this program Artists and former Election Lawyer Eve Jacobs-Carnahan will demystify the electoral process in New Hampshire and your rights as a voter while engaging citizen crafters in building a collaborative sculpture of the NH State House. Attendees will learn more about voting mechanics\, counting ballots\, and the electoral college. In addition\, they will gain confidence in recognizing and responding to misinformation to prepare for the 2024 presidential election. During the session\, attendees will also contribute to a collaborative sculpture of the NH State House made of the knitted and crocheted pieces stitched in six knitting circles around the state\, a visual representation of individuals' participation in lawmaking and the democratic process. In June the completed sculpture will be unveiled and publicly displayed at the NH State Library. All materials will be provided. No prior knitting or crocheting experience necessary. You do not have to participate in the knitting session in order to sit in on this lecture. This program is part of New Hampshire Humanities' 2024 United We Stand initiative\, with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Registration is requested but not required.
