Dover's rich history, natural beauty and unique shopping opportunities make the city a favorite destination. First settled in 1623, Dover is the oldest continuous settlement in the state and the seventh oldest in the nation. Dover's historic mills today house shops and restaurants, apartments and offices. The Cocheco River with its river walk, covered bridge, picnic areas, historic markers and access to the Atlantic Ocean winds through the heart of Dover's downtown. Dover (and Exeter) are now accessible by Amtrak's Downeaster Portland to Boston Service.

Named as one of America's most walkable communities by Walking Magazine, Exeter boasts a vibrant downtown and beautiful vistas along the banks of the tidal Squamscott River. Come stroll the streets lined with specialty boutiques and tempting eateries. Exeter (and Dover) are now accessible by Amtrak's Downeaster, making getting here an adventure in itself. Step off the train and explore the sprawling campus of Phillips Exeter Academy or retrace the steps of our forefathers at the American Independence Museum.

Hampton Beach is only two miles long, but a lot of fun is packed into that short stretch of sand. The popular seaside resort has a long tradition of attracting families for ling visits with its free ngithly entertainment, weekly fireworks and a long list of special events. Including the Masters Sand Sculpting Competition in June, the Children's Festival in August and the world famous Hampton Beach Seafood Festival in September.

Portsmouth has long been thought of as the jewel in the crown of the Seacoast. From its stately historic houses to its bustling downtown filled with restaurants, unique shops and entertainment venues, Portsmouth offers an unparalleled range of cultural and recreational opportunities for the visitor. In fact, Fodors Travel Guides named Portsmouth as one of its Top 10 Choice Destinations for 2002.

Rochester, known as the Lilac City, encompasses over 46 square miles of rolling hills and rivers covered with its famous lilacs in the spring, flowers blooming in the summer, spectacular autumn foliage or fresh-fallen snow. Shopping in Rochester features a wide range of antique shops, clothing stores, gifts shops and restaurants. Some of the City's cultural and recreational attractions include the Rochester Opera House, theater, golf, bowling, hiking, walking paths, rivers, ponds and lakes. Named, the Hilltop City, Somersworth is conveniently located between Rochester and Dover. A picturesque village, Somersworth offers the visitor an inside look at a typical New Hampshire small town community. Some of the town's family-oriented activities include the popular International Children's Festival held the second week in June and Kid's Concerts, held throughout the summer in the downtown area.
